Sammy is a little boy with a huge appetite. The enterprising toddler feels like eating the biggest, tallest sandwich in the world, so he pulls out all the stops. The sandwich soon grows taller than he is, but fortunately there’s a ladder. Sammy saws holes through the ceilings and carries on stacking his sandwich. He can make it even higher by going through the skylight, and with the help of a crane he’s able to top off this creation with an olive and a sprig of parsley. And then ... Sammy feels like having a banana.

Sammy and the Skyscraper Sandwich is an ode to the creative fantasy of toddlers, who love to convert features of their surroundings into something quite different for a while. This is a look-and-find book full of visual discoveries that will endlessly excite the smallest of children, and indeed their parents.

REVIEWS

It's kind of absurd and simple, beautifully presented, and ticks all the boxes for the things that children love. This book is utterly child-centred. {Kate De Goldi}

This is a visually stunning book! {John McIntyre  from The Children's Bookshop in New Zealand}

This priceless book is great fun to read - kids will simply adore the craziness - but the superb illustrations really take it over the edge. Funky, colourful, retro-inspired and utterly cool, they are some of my favourite images - EVER. {Tania McCartney from Kids' Book Review}

So much fun!

My 5 year old loves this book because it is so ridiculous and yet feels convincing! Sammy is so determined to make his huge sandwich... It's a large format board book so very sturdy, big beautiful pictures with fun details and good for reading with little ones. Lots to talk about and then a twist at the end which always makes us laugh!

A fun, creative and ambitious story!

Sammy and the Skyscraper Sandwich is perfect for Nursery, EYFS and KS1 especially. It is the story of a little boy building the biggest sandwich in the world. He has so much determination and never doubts his own ability. None of the adults tell him he is too young or too silly and I LOVE that! This A3, sturdy book will win a place in your hearts and inspire a sense of awe and wonder.

Building a sandwich to feed the hungry Sammy is not as straightforward as one might expect. He is exceptionally hungry and makes an amazing sandwich to feed this hunger. Reminded us of the very hungry caterpillar for packed lunches.
